Award Winners

Award winners Cole Verbrugge and Jorge Bonilla

At our February 18 Key City Toastmasters meeting, we celebrated two standout performances that truly captured the spirit of growth and excellence.

Cole Verbrugge earned the Traveling Trophy for his outstanding work as General Evaluator. Cole delivered a thorough and engaging summary of the meeting, highlighting key moments while offering clear, constructive feedback on each of the meeting roles. His observations were insightful, encouraging, and specific — a masterclass in how evaluation helps all of us grow. Well done, Cole!

We were also thrilled to recognize Jorge Bonilla, a first-time guest, who won the Best Table Topics ribbon. In his impromptu speech, Jorge shared the story of making a courageous career change after 14 years in a stable, well-paying security position. He spoke about stepping into a new role he has now held for 1.5 years — a move that required boldness, resilience, and belief in himself. His story resonated deeply with our members and reminded us that growth often begins just outside our comfort zone.

Congratulations, Cole and Jorge! Your leadership, authenticity, and courage embody what Toastmasters is all about.
